Fast Start Carries Soccer Team to Victory
The MSJC soccer team got out to a quick start on Friday and then let the defense take over as they won at Fullerton 2-0.
Leandra Garlinger scored a goal 26 seconds into the match to quickly give the Lady Eagles a 1-0 lead. Demitra Tsambasis was credited with an assist. Less than two minutes later Garlinger added her second goal of the match at the 2:20 mark scoring unassisted. MSJC had several other opportunities, but could not score again.
The Lady Eagle defense was solid throughout the day as goal keeper Melissa Lopez recorded her second shut out of the season. She was helped by the entire defensive unit lead by Emily Castellon-Lopez who took advantage of her first start of the year playing very well at outside defender. Lopez finished the match with 13 saves in the victory.
The Lady Eagles are now 3-2 on the season. MSJC returns to action on Tuesday when they host El Camino at 4 pm on the Menifee Campus.
