Lady Eagles Keep Rolling in Soccer
The MSJC women's soccer team continued their perfect start to the season on Friday in Palm Desert as they defeated their hosts College of the Desert 4-0 in their first Foothill Conference match of the year.
The Lady Eagles were held scoreless for the first 64 minutes of the match and then erupted for four goals in and 18 minute span to put away the victory. Yuvitza Garcia scored MSJC's first goal in the 64th minute on assists from Kriston Hilkey and Leola Cooper. Jamie Ayala added her first of two goals 8 minutes later on another assist from Hilkey to push the lead to 2-0. Cooper picked up a goal of her own at the 75 minute mark as Garcia returned the favor with an assist. The Lady Eagles final goal of the match was in the 82nd minute when Ayala scored her second goal assisted by Alexandra Scata.
Taylor Wolf played the first half and Kim Bussing the second in goal for MSJC with neither keeper allowing a goal. Bussing did pick up two saves in the second half.
The win improved the Lady Eagles, who are currently ranked #7 in Southern Cal and #14 in the state, to 7-0 on the season and 1-0 in Foothill Conference action. MSJC will host Chaffey College on Tuesday at Menifee at 4 pm. The Panthers come into Tuesday's match ranked #6 in So. Cal and #11 in the state.
Leola Cooper had a goal and an assist on Friday as the 14th ranked Lady Eagles continued their strong start to the season with a 4-0 win at College of the Desert. MSJC will host 11th ranked Chaffey Tuesday in Menifee at 4 pm.
