Lady Eagles Soccer Opens With Easy Win
The MSJC women's soccer team came out of the gates quickly on Tuesday as they cruised to an easy win in their season opener at College of the Desert, winning 7-1.
Leandra Garlinger dominated the game for the Lady Eagles scoring 5 goals and picking up an assist. Garlinger got the scoring started 25 minutes into the game when she scored MSJC's first goal of the season. She would add another goal just two minutes later as the Lady Eagles took over the match midway through the first half.
Lizeth Mendez added a goal at the 32 minute mark and then it was Garlinger again as the Lady Eagles went into halftime with a commanding 4-1 lead. In the second half Garlinger added two more goals and the scoring was finished off by a Stephanie Perez goal in the 77th minute. Mendez and Perez both also each picked up an assist while Brook Wooldrige hade two helpers and Taylor Swampii added one.
MSJC is now 1-0 on the season and will play their home opener next Tuesday. Tuesday's match will begin at 4 pm on the Menifee Campus with Irvine Valley coming to town.
