MSJC Soccer Gets Big Conference Win
The MSJC women's soccer team picked up a big home win on Wednesday in Menifee as they defeated visiting Mira Costa College 1-0.
In a match that turned out to be a defensive battle MSJC controlled the action most of the match, but were held scoreless for the first 85 minutes. In the 85th minute the Lady Eagles were finally able to take advantage of an opportunity when Emily Castellon-Lopez scored a goal off an assist from Cali Prentice for the game winner.
The Lady Eagle defense was strong again as they recorded their fifth shut out of the year. Melissa Lopez didn't allow a shot past her in goal picking up 7 saves including 2 crucial stops in the final 10 minutes.
The victory improved the Lady Eagles to 6-3-1 overall and kept them unbeaten in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play at 2-0-1. MSJC will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Mirimar for a 3:15 match.
