Soccer Team Loses Close One in Battle of Ranked Teams
The MSJC women's soccer team played a great match, but came up a goal short on Tuesday as they lost to visiting Chaffey College 2-1 in Menifee.
The Lady Eagles entered the match ranked #7 in Southern California and #14 in the state while Chaffey came it at #6, and #11. The teams exchanged ball control through much of the first half before two late Panther goals gave Chaffey a 2-0 lead at the break.
In the second half MSJC had several chances and climbed to within one on a goal by Lizeth Mendez in the 29th minute. The Lady Eagles mounted a couple more surges on goal, but were unable to tie the match. Taylor Wolf played all 90 minutes in goal for MSJC making 11 saves while allowing just the two goals.
The loss was the first on the season for the Lady Eagles as they fell to 7-1 overeall and 1-1 in Foothill Conference action while Chaffey improved to 7-1-1 and 2-0. MSJC will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Whittier to take on Rio Hondo College in a 4 pm match.
