Soccer Team Picks Up Win Over Cuyumaca
The MSJC soccer team picked up their first Pacific Coast Athletic Conference win on Friday as they defeated visiting Cuyumaca College 3-2 in Menifee.
The Lady Eagles scored the day's first goal when Victoria Sanchez scored unassisted in the 11th minute of the match. Cuyumaca would tie the score midway through the first half and the teams went to the locker room tied a 1-1. Sanchez added her second goal of the day in the 56th minute this time getting an assist from Kayla Hass to give the Lady Eagles the lead back. Leandra Garlinger then put the game out of reach in the 66th minute when she scored off an assist from Crystal Torres to make the score 3-1. Cuyumaca would add a late goal to push the final score to 3-2.
Melissa Lopez had 6 saves in goal for MSJC who improves to 5-3-1 on the season and 1-0-1 in PCAC play. The Lady Eagles return to action on Tuesday October 8th when they host Mira Costa at 3:15 pm in Menifee.
