Two Late Goals Keep MSJC Soccer Team Unbeaten
The MSJC women's soccer team fought through a tough match on Tuesday and came away with another victory defeating visiting Southwestern 3-1 in Menifee.
The Lady Eagles got on the board first, late in the opening half, when Denise Aguilar scored on an assist from Leola Cooper at the 29:40 mark. The Jaguars came right back just 2 minutes later tying the score and sending the teams into halftime tied at 1-1.
In the second half it was a defensive battle for the first 34 minutes before Jamie Ayala made an impressive move to score the go ahead goal at the 34:09 mark. Vilma Portillo and Kriston Hilkey were credited with the assist on the Ayala goal. The Lady Eagles put the match out of reach with a late goal by Hilkey with just over a minute to play. Kirsten Montgomery picked up an assist for MSJC on the final goal. Taylor Wolf played 90 minutes in goal allowing just the one goal while picking up 8 saves.
The win improved the Lady Eagles to 5-0 on the season while Southwestern suffered their first defeat and fell to 3-1. MSJC will be back in action next Wednesday September 19th when they travel to Glendale for a 7pm match.
