Hate in the News

Currently, there are 939 known hate groups operating across the country, including neo-Nazis, Klansmen, white nationalists, neo-Confederates, racist skinheads, black separatists, border vigilantes and others.

For the most up-to-date news on hate groups and bias incidents, please go to:

The Southern Poverty Law Center website:

The Southern Poverty Law Center monitors hate groups and other extremists throughout the United States and exposes their activities to law enforcement agencies, the media and the public. The SPLC publishes their investigative findings online, on their Hatewatch blog, and in their journal Intelligence Report. The SPLC has crippled some of the country’s most notorious hate groups by suing them for murders and other violent acts committed by their members.

Also, please visit the Anti-Defamation League website for both national and international incidents of hate and extremism, including analyses of the role of mass media in the legitimation of groups like ISIS and Hamas.
