The event at the Menifee Valley Campus featured live Jazz, food and sold student artwork
Mt. San Jacinto College students will benefit from the generosity of the Rotary Club of Menifee thanks to the $3,000 donation the club gave during the 2nd annual MSJC Foundation Jazz Brunch.
Don Lunday, past president of the club, presented the check during the May 15, 2011 event at the Menifee Valley Campus. Vicki Carpenter, the MSJC Foundation’s board president, and MSJC’s Superintendent/President Dr. Roger Schultz accepted the check.
“The Menifee Rotary club’s donation is generous and very meaningful during this tough economic climate,” said Kristine DiMemmo, interim executive director of the MSJC Foundation. “This donation will relieve some of the financial pressures students are facing and help them to reach their educational goals.”
The 2nd annual Jazz Brunch, organized by the non-profit MSJC Foundation, featured award-winning jazz singer Yve Evans, the Menifee Jazz Ensemble and local jazz sensation Nova Modern. Despite the damp weather, more than 100 people gathered under the tents to enjoy a fine brunch, complete with champagne. Student artists braved the rain and displayed and sold their works, which ranged from paintings to photographs to pottery.
