adnStudentsClass.jpgThe Mt. San Jacinto College Nursing Education program has instituted a policy to assist students in preparation for a rigorous academic nursing program. Prospective nursing students must pass a Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) prior to program admission. This test assesses basic skills in Math, English, Reading, and Science.

Only selected applicants who are applying to the Mt. San Jacinto College nursing programs are invited to take the TEAS at Mt. San Jacinto College. Invited students are required to submit the first passing TEAS score, therefore preparation for this assessment is essential. Study resources can be found on the ATI website.

MSJC Student Services offers Academic Success Through Assessment and Remediation (ASTAR) Workshops for TEAS preparation. They are four hour intensive accelerated workshops in the subjects of Science, Math, English and Reading. Originally designed to enhance the TEAS test scores of select nursing students. Workshop attendance is voluntary and enrollment may be completed by following the directions in the ASTAR brochure. To see a calendar of the upcoming workshops, click on the following link or contact Gillian Patton for further assistance at (760) 468-1524.

Upon receiving official notification of potential program candidacy the MSJC NAHD the prospective nursing student must take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) at a designated testing center. The prospective nursing student who achieves a passing composite score (62%) will be further reviewed by program selection committee (PEAR).

Beginning August 2016, the TEAS V test will change to the ATI TEAS. The ATI TEAS test can only be taken twice in order to achieve a passing score.
