The Mt. San Jacinto College Foundation awarded 71 MSJC students a total of $65,674 in scholarship funds during the 11th annual Student Scholarship Awards Breakfast, said Chris Klein, the Foundation’s executive director.

About 130 people attended the event, held May 7, 2008 in MSJC’s new Temecula Education Complex.
The MSJC Foundation is a non-profit corporation that helps support the college and students. It accepts donations throughout the year at www.msjc.edu/foundation.
MSJC student Nisan Weaver, 33, of Murrieta plans on becoming a teacher. The scholarships the mother of a 5-month-old received will help her achieve her goals.
“Without them (the scholarships), school would be very difficult,” she said. “There are times I’ve had to drop a class because I couldn’t afford a book.”
In addition to the Foundation’s awards, 43 students who received scholarships from outside donors were also recognized at the breakfast. Those scholarships totaled $36,700. Throughout the year, about $250,000 in funds from outside donors is awarded to MSJC students.
