About 130 people attended the event, held May 7, 2008 in MSJC’s new Temecula Education Complex.

The MSJC Foundation is a non-profit corporation that helps support the college and students. It accepts donations throughout the year at www.msjc.edu/foundation.

MSJC student Nisan Weaver, 33, of Murrieta plans on becoming a teacher. The scholarships the mother of a 5-month-old received will help her achieve her goals.

“Without them (the scholarships), school would be very difficult,” she said. “There are times I’ve had to drop a class because I couldn’t afford a book.”

In addition to the Foundation’s awards, 43 students who received scholarships from outside donors were also recognized at the breakfast. Those scholarships totaled $36,700. Throughout the year, about $250,000 in funds from outside donors is awarded to MSJC students.
