Bio-Tech Co. donates equipment to MSJC

A bio tech company’s Temecula office recently donated more than $10,000 worth of equipment that will benefit biology classes at Mt. San Jacinto College.

Millipore, a bioscience and biopharmaceutical manufacturing firm with branches around the world, donated the equipment in June. MSJC instructor Dr. Nick Reeves helped arrange the donation and the Facilities Department has helped repair some of the pieces.

Millipore donated hot and cold water baths, power supply, rockers, micro centrifuge, test tube centrifuge and UV lights. The total value of the equipment is $10,020, but would have cost more if the college would have had to purchase the equipment.

The equipment will be used on the Menifee Valley Campus in the Biology and Environmental Science labs, giving students hands-on experience.  This summer, biology students used the power supplies, rockers, and centrifuges.
