The Mt. San Jacinto College Board of Trustees said goodbye to old students, welcomed new ones and adopted the final environmental impact report for the San Gorgonio Pass Campus master plan during its regular June 13, 2013 meeting.
Student Trustee Jeffrey Patterson is transferring to UCLA. Student Government Association President Cynthia Wagner is transferring to UC Berkeley. They thanked the college, the board and Superintendent/President Schultz.
Wagner’s voice cracked as she fought back tears, especially thanking Trustee Gwendolyn Schlange and President Schultz for urging her to continue her education.
Wagner introduced the new SGA President Sally Boatman and Vice President Corrine Rutledge.
The Board welcomed interim Dean of Business Services Wade Ellis. They were advised by Dr. Bill Vincent, vice president of Student Services, that the Veterans Center on the San Jacinto Campus is complete and a grand opening is scheduled for Nov. 17, 2013.
The Board voted 3-2 to adopt the final environmental impact report for the San Gorgonio Pass Campus master plan. By a unanimous vote, the Board approved revisions and additions to several Board Policies.
The Board will meet at 3:30 p.m. on June 27, 2013 to consider adopting MSJC’s 2013-14 budget. The Board will also consider a proposal to move meetings back to 4 p.m. starting in August. The Board will not meet in July.
