Full first day: 16,000-plus registered for classes

Students vied for premium parking spaces, purchased text books and talked to counselors on the first day of the fall 2009 semester at Mt. San Jacinto College.
The first day of the fall semester saw record enrollment on Aug. 17 with more than 16,400 students registered for classes. The unduplicated headcount was a 14 percent increase over the fall 2008 semester.
Classes and wait lists are nearly full and there are few seats available.
