MSJC Athletics receives generous donation from Soboba

The Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians and the Soboba Casino recently donated $25,000 to the Mt. San Jacinto Athletics Department, said Patrick Springer, dean of Student Services/Athletics.

“This is just another example of the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians’ commitment to academics and athletics in the San Jacinto Valley,” Springer said. “With the state budget the way it is, this will allow us not only to maintain our programs, but to grow them.”

In a letter to MSJC Athletics Department, the Soboba Casino urged Springer to use all of the money for the athletic department. Casino officials also said they wanted to continue maintaining a strong relationship with the college and participating in college events. Several members of the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians and the casino participated in April in the 22nd annual MSJC Eagle Athletic Club Scholarship Golf Classic.
