Kiara, 22, of Hemet, received the $3,000 scholarship from the American Dance Festival. The scholarship will allow her to participate in a six-week summer training program in North Carolina.

American Dance Festival is an international dance festival in its 37th year. It is one of the oldest and most respected dance festivals in the United States.

"I am profoundly happy for Kiara," said Tennille Lambert, MSJC dance instructor. "This opportunity and award will surely inspire all of the MSJC dancers and support what we've all been telling them about discipline, persistence and going for their dreams."
