The Mt. San Jacinto College Eagles will partner with a local high school for the first time in nearly 20 years to play two of its home games on a high school football field.
The community is invited as the MSJC Eagles host College of the Desert on Sept. 4 and Southwestern College on Oct. 2 at Vista Murrieta High School.
Both games kick off at 6 p.m. at Vista Murrieta High, 28251 Clinton Keith Road in Murrieta.
“We are excited about partnering with Vista Murrieta High,” said Patrick Springer, Dean of Athletics. “We want to reach out to the communities in the Mt. San Jacinto College district to help build community spirit and pride and to encourage our young high school football stars to continue their athletic careers at their hometown college: MSJC.”
Before Carl Quandt Stadium was built in 1992 at the San Jacinto Campus, MSJC played its home games at the Hemet High football field. The games attracted families of MSJC’s team members and also residents from the surrounding communities, said Gregg Shaw, defensive coordinator.
This season, MSJC's other three home games -- Oct. 23, 30 and Nov. 13 -- will be held on the San Jacinto Campus at Carl Quandt Stadium, 1499 N. State St. in San Jacinto.
On Oct. 30, MSJC will hold its Homecoming and the inaugural Hall of Fame induction. The Hall of Fame induction celebration will be held at the Country Club at Soboba Springs. Inductees are: John Chambers, Robert Stangel and Alvin Walton.
