MSJC Foundation Scholarship Motorcycle Run a success

More than 86 riders helped raise about $2000.00 for student scholarships during the inaugural MSJC Foundation Scholarship Motorcycle Run.

Officials were thrilled with the community participation in the run, which was held Nov. 7, 2009 and is scheduled to become an annual event.

“The turnout to the first annual MSJC Foundation Scholarship Motorcycle Run was phenomenal,” said Dr. Bill Vincent, Vice President of Student Services, who inspired the idea for the event. “This shows how much members of the communities in the college district care about and support students at MSJC. This means so much to students, especially during these difficult economic times.”

Riders arrived at MSJC’s Menifee Valley Campus for breakfast and driving safety tips from MSJC interim Police Chief Terry Meadows. They headed out through Anza, Aguanga and Garner Valley before ending the run at the San Jacinto Campus for a BBQ, chances to win prizes and to listen to music and enjoy the camaraderie.

Dr. Kraft, Dean of Student Support Services at MSJC who organized the event, praised participants for their part in making the event a success. She also thanked event sponsors.

“Without all of the sponsors who generously contributed to the MSJC Scholarship Motorcycle Run, this event would not have been a success. On behalf of MSJC and its students, we thank the sponsors,” Dr. Kraft said.

Event sponsors were: Quaid/Harley Davidson Temecula; SWRNN.com; Prime Performance Motorsports San Jacinto; MSJC Bookstore; Dairy Queen Anza; Intrepid Cycles Temecula; MSJC Student Services Leadership; Reliable Realty Murrieta; State Farm Agent Valerie Tichy-Drummer Hemet; Hemet Optical; Tom Spillman; American Idle Motorcycles San Jacinto; Jim Smith Automotive Banning; State Farm Agent Valerie Monroe Banning; The Bank of Hemet; BJ’s Restaurant Temecula; Threads Clothing Store San Jacinto; Roger Schultz; Anady’s Tropys; Ackerman Cowles & Associates Murrieta; BJ Sporting Goods Hemet; the Hemet-San Jacinto Chamber of Commerce.
