MSJC Foundation's 2nd annual gala a hit

About 300 people gathered on Feb. 6, 2010 to watch student performances, bid on silent auction items, dine on delicious foods and dance the night away at the sold-out Mt. San Jacinto College Foundation An Evening With Our Stars gala held at Wilson Creek Winery in Temecula.

The annual gala is the MSJC Foundation’s signature event to raise funds for student scholarships, faculty mini grants and other philanthropic endeavors that support the college and its students.

The 2nd annual gala included an elegant dinner, a student performance competition, Alumni & Friends Awards ceremony and entertainment by Splash!, a high-energy dance and vocal ensemble. The silent auction included art and entertainment packages.

Winners of the Student Performance Competition received scholarships. The panel of judges – “Glee” star Jennifer Aspen; Gerry and Rosie Wilson, owners of Wilson Creek Winery; Bob Madden, KATY 101.3 FM host; Regina Stone, wife of Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Stone; and Corrine Garbani, Pechanga Tribal Council member – selected the winners.

Student performers were:

  • Selvana Elwardany – First place, $1,000 scholarship
  • Joey Hambrick – Second place, $500 scholarship
  • Ashley Wetherill – Third place, $250 scholarship
  • Sharon Snowden – a $50 gift certificate courtesy of the MSJC Bookstore
  • Evan Rayner - a $50 gift certificate courtesy of the MSJC Bookstore
  • Karen Baldwin – a $50 gift certificate courtesy of the MSJC Bookstore

  • Kay Ceniceros, former Riverside County Supervisor and former Dean of Institutional Advancement/Executive Director of the Foundation, for Outstanding Community Volunteer for the Year.
