MSJC Superintendent/President to Award College Diploma to High School Valedictorian

June 4, 2014

Beaumont High School Valedictorian Kevin Morales will receive two diplomas on Wednesday, June 4: one from his high school and one from Mt. San Jacinto College.

MSJC’s Superintendent/President Dr. Roger Schultz will present the MSJC diploma to Kevin during the commencement ceremony scheduled for 5 p.m. at the high school stadium. The ambitious Kevin was a dual enrollment student at MSJC who took college courses while also excelling in his studies at high school.

“I am extremely proud to present Kevin Morales with an associate’s degree in science from Mt. San Jacinto College during his high school commencement,” Dr. Schultz said. “Kevin is an exceptional student whose hard work and dedication will pay off as he heads to the prestigious Brown University. MSJC is pleased to support dual enrollment students like Kevin so they can succeed as they work to achieve their educational goals.”

MSJC’s Dual Enrollment Program allows qualified high school students to earn college and high school credits at the same time. Students can take Dual Enrollment courses in Career Technical Education or as an alternative to Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate classes. In addition to saving time and money, students participating in the Dual Enrollment program will have an easier transition to college and will be more prepared for the rigors of college level studies once they are finished with high school.

Kevin will continue at MSJC this summer to earn a second associate’s degree in environmental studies. When he attends Brown, he will major in chemistry and minor in gender studies.
