MSJC is Smoke and Tobacco Free Starting Fall 2013

July 18, 2013

For the health and safety of students, staff and visitors, MSJC is smoke and tobacco free. Starting with the Fall 2013 semester, use of all smoke and tobacco products will be prohibited from all properties owned, leased or rented by Mt. San Jacinto College. This includes all parking lots, buildings and grounds. Repeat violators of the smoke and tobacco-free campus policy will be subject to appropriate disciplinary actions. Signs will be posted around campuses prior to the start of the Fall semester.

The Classified and Academic senates, Student Government Association and the Safety Committee had all voted to prohibit smoke and tobacco products from MSJC campuses prior to the College Council’s approval of the new policy on November 5, 2012. The MSJC Board of Trustees adopted policy 3570 during its June 13, 2013 meeting. The policy prohibits cigarettes, chewing  tobacco, electronic cigarettes or any other tobacco product.
