Mt. San Jacinto College students take 2nd place in Progfest

A team of Mt. San Jacinto College students earned second place in the community college division at the eighth annual Progfest Programming Challenge.

The event was held at California State University, Los Angeles this month.

Josh Angelsberg, Beau Valenzuela, and Christopher Caldwell, the Computer Information Systems (CIS) students representing MSJC, were mentored by instructor Glenn Stevenson.

“Our student success at this event is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students, and the effectiveness and rigor of our C++ program,” said Dwight Duffie of the MSJC CIS department.

Progfest is an annual CalState LA Programming Challenge that offers high school and community college students an opportunity to solve college-level and real-world programming problems by applying the principles of computer science.
