Register Today for MSJC's Free Online Writing Course

January 14, 2014

Students who need to improve their English writing skills are encouraged to register today for the Mt. San Jacinto College course Crafting an Effective Writer: Tools of the Trade. The free online class begins Friday, February 7. The course is open to current MSJC students and  to the community-at-large. It is helpful for anyone who wants to refresh English writing skills.

The five-week, not-for-credit course is taught by English Professors Ted Blake, Larry Barkley, and Lorrie Ross.  Students will learn the basic tools of grammar, punctuation and writing. It will also help students prepare for placement tests.  Students who receive a certificate in the course will be eligible to re-take the English placement test.

This will be the third time MSJC has offered the course, which was made possible by a $50,000 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The first time MSJC offered the course, in May 2013, more than 40,000 people from all over the world enrolled.
