Phi Theta Kappa and LifeStream Blood Drives
Our Beta Delta Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa is co-hosting a blood drive with LifeStream, the Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.

Each person donating blood will receive a free movie ticket in recognition of their effort.

Please consider supporting your community by donating blood. If you would like to schedule an appointment to avoid a long wait, you can go to the LifeStream Blood Bank website at www.membersforlife.org/bbsb/mobilesch/bdc_city.php, search for either Menifee or San Jacinto, and select the MSJC blood drive. If you have already donated with LifeStream before then you should be able to login but if you haven’t then you will have to register to become a member using the link on the right side of the webpage.
Information about the blood donation process is listed below. Please note, wait times may vary depending on the number of donors and volunteers present on the day of the event.
THE DONATION PROCESS:
Making a donation of life-giving blood should take less than one hour. Life Stream takes a brief medical history, checks your blood pressure, pulse, temperature and your body's iron level. Only sterile, sealed and completely disposable materials are used once and then safely discarded.
REGISTRATION
Sign in with the receptionist and complete a brief health history questionnaire (approx. 15 minutes).
MINI-PHYSICAL
Take a "mini-physical" to review your medical history, check your blood pressure, pulse rate, body temperature and iron levels (approx. 15 minutes).
BLOOD DONATION
Your blood is drawn by a skilled medical professional using new, sterile and disposable materials (approx. 15 minutes).
COOKIES AND JUICE FOR ALL!
You're already done! Enjoy cookies, drinks and healthy snacks while relaxing in the canteen area.
HOW OFTEN CAN YOU DONATE BLOOD?
Your body quickly replenishes any blood that you donate. In fact, a healthy adult can donate whole blood every 56 days - or approximately 8 weeks. Plasma can be donated as often as once a month. Platelets can be given every 2 weeks up to 24 times each year. When you give through automation, also known as apheresis, you may be able to save more lives more often.
WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU:
When donating blood, please be sure to bring a current photo ID, preferably a valid Driver License. If you don't have one of these, another form of ID with your photo on it is necessary.
WHAT TO EAT BEFORE DONATING BLOOD:
Before making a blood donation, you should eat at your regular mealtimes and drink plenty of liquids. You might also increase your consumption of "iron rich" foods a few days before making a blood donation because only donors with good iron levels are able to give the gift of life.
If you would like further information about this event please contact the Phi Theta Kappa office at 951-487-3276. Thank you for your support!
