Here is a preliminary idea of what you will see on the final examination. There are 10 essay questions to answer. They are to be answered by outline or diagram as appropriate or mentioned below. Some outlines will include both. I am more than willing to over any question and its expectation during office hours. Please wait on going over essay questions until we have actually covered the topic and you can ask intelligent questions.
1. List and describe the characteristics of life
2. If given the atomic mass and atomic number state the number of neutrons, protons, electrons, ionization, bonding tendency, and electron configuration.
3. Outline the treatments of cancer. Include the limitations and mitigations for each treatment, drug types, cell stage, and action of at least five drugs.
4. List and describe the layers of the skin
5. Outline the process of endochondral ossification.
6. Outline and diagram the events of skeletal muscle contraction.
7. Digest and absorb a cheeseburger. Include the areas, enzymes, enzyme functions, physical processes of digestion, and the specifics of fat transport.
8. Outline the process of the catabolism of glucose.
9. Outline the menstrual cycle. Include in your answer the glands, hormones, days, and changes in the endometrium.
10. Outline and diagram the early embryonic development of a human. Include the approximate age, labels for the diagrams, and the germ layer derivatives.
I will select only 5 of these 10 for the test. Make sure you study the cancer question as this will likely be on the final.
