Mission Statement
The mission of the Learning Resource Center is to maintain a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where all MSJC students can become aware of and achieve their specific academic goals and commitment to lifelong learning through diverse and active learning experiences and collaboration with peers, tutors, and faculty.
Vision Statement
Our vision is to expand our services to all members of the college community using distance learning technologies to complement our personal, on-campus services. Through these means we seek to empower MSJC students and instill in them the desire to successfully meet and surpass their academic, vocational, and personal goals.
General Services
The Learning Resource Center provides a variety of services to promote the enhancement of the student’s academic goals. Three of the primary services we offer are tutoring – both walk-in and appointments, testing, and computer usage. In addition, resource handouts are available to assist students with study skills, term papers, and a selection of other academic tasks.
For the convenience of our MSJC students we provide a location where students may drop off homework assignments and leave written messages for their instructors. Assignments are logged in; time/date stamped, and placed in instructors’ folders in the Learning Resource Centers locked file cabinets.
Our goal is to increase scholastic achievement by providing MSJC students with effective tutoring in content area courses, by exposing students to study skill techniques, and by promoting confidence and self-esteem necessary for students to succeed in today’s academic environment. We invite you to stop by for a visit, meet the staff, and let us assist you in your efforts during the semester.
All services are free; however, students must present MSJC ID cards to access services.
