2 units - CSU/UC
Prerequisite: DAN 122 or equivalent experience
This course offers continuing study of modern dance techniques which may include, but are not limited to, the movement vocabularies of Graham, Holm, Humphrey-Weidman, Limon, Cunningham, Hawkins, Taylor and Tharp, and the post-modern and contemporary styles of today. The emphasis is on expanding and deepening the dancer's technical and expressive skills through more complicated techniques, combinations, improvisations, and choreographic studies while supporting the discovery of a personal movement voice. Complexity rhythmically, spatially, and dynamically is stressed. This course meets a requirement for the dance major, CSU/UC transfer, MSJC graduation in humanities or physical education and is for the serious dance or theatre student. May be taken 4 times for credit.
