Dr. Mason is a population and community biologist with a special interest in animal behavior and population genetics. He is currently doing research on the winter avian community of Yellowstone National Park . He recently received a National Science Foundation, ATEEP Fellowship to study urban and agricultural pollution as it affects water resources. Dr. Mason also serves as President of the San Jacinto River Basin Resource Conservation District.

Dr. Mason and his wife, Debbie, are also involved in science education for elementary school children. Both Dr. and Mrs. Mason teach graduate level courses in science education.

In his free time Dr. Mason is a couch potato who loves re-runs of Law and Order, CSI and Star Trek. His idols are Sean Connery and Harrison Ford.
