Baseball Team Shuts Out Imperial
The MSJC baseball team used some solid pitching and timely hitting on Thursday as they cruised to their third straight Pacific Coast Athletic Conference victory beating visiting Imperial Valley 11-0.
Starting pitcher Zevon Benoit went six scoreless innings on the mound for the Eagles striking out 4 and walking none. Josh Hartman, Hector Flores, and Adam Fields each threw one shut out inning in relief.
The Eagles bats also came to life as they scored 10 or more runs for the third straight time. Johnny Valdez, J.T. Brown, Ben Moreno, and David Alonzo each picked up two hits as MSJC collected 12 on the day. Bryan Dezern had 2 RBIs.
The win pushed the Eagles record on the season to 7-13 overall and 5-3 in PCAC play while the Arabs fell to 5-15 and 2-6. The same two teams will meet again today when they wrap up the three game series at 2 pm on the San Jacinto Campus.
