Eagle Baseball Evens Record with Home Win

The MSJC baseball team held of Mt. Sac on Tuesday for a 5-4 home victory that improved the Eagles record to 2-2 on the season.

Josh Peters was the star of the day as the starting pitcher went 8 shut out innings allowing just 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 8. It took the Eagles three pitchers to get through the ninth but Kyle Jones came in and struck out the only batter he faced to pick up the save.

MSJC scored single runs in each of the first three innings and tacked on a run a piece in the seventh and eighth to build a 5-0 lead heading to the ninth. Third baseman Chris Houston picked up 2 RBIs on the day while David Ricker, Travis Hansen, and Brant Alonzo each added one. Lead off hitter Joe Riley set the table all day going 2 for 3 with a walk and scoring 2 runs. Greg Anzures added 3 hits in the victory. Peters improved his record on the mound to 2-1 on the year.

The Eagles are right back in action today as they travel to Citrus for a 2 pm game. The Eagles will also take on Imperial Valley on Thursday on the road.
