Eagle Baseball Team Wins Second Straight

The MSJC baseball team broke open a scoreless game with five runs in the top of the third on their way to a 13-4 Pacific Coast Athletic Conference road win Tuesday at Imperial Valley.

Brian Dezern drove in the Eagles first run with an RBI single to center field scoring Nick Gonzales.  J.T. Brown followed with a 3 run triple and Ben Moreno picked up Brown with an RBI single to give MSJC a 5-0 third inning lead.  The Eagles would score 4 more unanswered runs before IVC could manage to put anything on the scoreboard.

Fernando Fernandez also finished the game with 3 RBIs for the Eagles while Johnny Valdez and Dezern each had 3 hits.  David Alonzo added a pair of hits and an RBI, MSJC finished the day with 15 hits.  Justin Lawler pitched four shut out innings to start the game and Alec Escalante and Adam Fields closed the game with three shut out innings between them to give the Eagles their second straight win.

MSJC now stands at 6-13 overall on the season and are 4-3 in PCAC play while Imperial fell to 5-14 overall and 2-5 in conference.  The same two teams will meet again on Thursday and Friday at MSJC to wrap up the three game series.  Both games are scheduled for 2 pm.
