Eagles Take Three From Victor Valley in Baseball
The MSJC baseball team won both games of their doubleheader Saturday at home against Victor Valley to complete their three game sweep of the Rams.
In Saturday's first game Dakota Downs went the distance on the mound picking up his second victory of the season in an 8-2 win. Joe Riley led the way on offense with 2 hits, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs scored. Corbin Clinedinst and Zac Hubert also drove in runs for MSJC. A four run bottom of the second put the Eagles ahead for good as Downs did the rest allowing just one earned run and six hits for the game.
In game two the Eagles collected 16 hits on their way to a 15-6 win over the visiting Rams punctuated by an 8 run fifth inning. Riley capped off his huge day with 4 hits and 4 RBIs in the game. Second baseman Jeremy Mouton added 3 RBIs while Devin Greco and Hubert each drove in 2 runs. Kurt Sargent picked up the win on the mound in relief
of starter Ricky Norton going 3 and 1/3 innings allowing just one unearned run while striking out 7.
The Eagles also picked up a win at Victor Valley on Thursday 7-5 in the first game of the series. The sweep improved MSJC's overall record to 12-13 and their Foothill Conference mark to 7-8. VVC fell to 4-17 and 2-16. MSJC returns to action Thursday when they host Cerro Coso at 2:30 in a single game. The Eagles will finish the three game set with the Coyotes on Saturday in Ridgecrest with a doubleheader.
Ricky Norton was the starting pitcher on Saturday in game 2 of the Eagles sweep of visiting Victor Valley College. MSJC won game one 8-2 and game two 15-6.
