MSJC Baseball Gets Home Win Over SBVC
The MSJC baseball team scored seven times in the bottom of the fourth inning on Tuesday as they won the first of a three game series with San Bernardino Valley 8-6 at home.
The Eagles trailed 2-0 entering the bottom of the fourth where they exploded for seven runs. Abraham Rascon got the scoring started with an RBI single. Nick Brock, Brian Wolford, and Sonny Garcia would all add RBI singles in the inning as well while Steven Ybarra had a two run double and Michael Alonzo earned a bases loaded walk to earn another RBI. MSJC forced the Wolverines to use three different pitchers to get out of the fourth inning. Brock Partain would add an RBI of his own in the bottom of the sixth with a sacrifice fly.
Jordan Ewig started the game on the mound for the Eagles and went four plus innings before giving way to A.J. Villa who finished the game with five complete innings pitched. Ewig allowed four runs, three earned, off five hits while walking three. Villa, who was credited with the victory, allowed two earned runs on five hits and struck out four SBVC hitters while walking just one.
The win improves MSJC to 5-22 overall on the season they are now 2-11 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play. SBVC fell to 6-21 and 5-8. These two teams will play again on Thursday at San Bernardino and then wrap up their three game series Saturday at MSJC. Thursday's game is scheduled for 2 pm while Saturday's first pitch is scheduled for noon.
