Minder and McClellan Latest Two MSJC Baseball Players Moving On
Josh Minder and Mauryse McClellan became the latest two MSJC baseball players to sign scholarships for the upcoming season when they made commitments last week.
Minder, who was a First Team All Pacific Coast Athletic Conference selection during his sophomore season for the Eagles, has signed with Texas Wesleyan University. Texas Wesleyan is an NAIA Division I school and a member of the Sooner Athletic Conference. The school is located in Ft. Worth, Texas and is coming off a season in which they finished 39-19 and reached the NAIA National Tournament. Minder hit .353 for the Eagles during the 2016 season, which included an impressive .402 conference average. Minder also led MSJC in RBIs on the year with 30 to go along with 1 homerun, 7 doubles, and a team high 5 triples. Minder split time this past season at first base and as the designated hitter. Minder is a graduate of Valley View High School in Moreno Valley.
McClellan will also be competing in the Sooner Athletic Conference as he has inked a scholarship with Bacone College. Bacone, also an NAIA Division I school, is located in Muskogee, Oklahoma. McClellan played in 36 of the Eagles 37 games during the 2016 season mostly in left field. McClellan hit .267 for MSJC and drove in 11 runs while stealing 3 bases and scoring 19 times.
These two players along with their teammates helped MSJC to a third place finish in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference and an appearance in the CCCAA Southern California Regionals. The Eagles finished the 2016 season with an overall record of 20-17.
