Record Setting Season Comes to an End

The MSJC baseball team lost Sunday to end their bid for a trip to the State Finals with a 7-1 loss to host Orange Coast.

The Eagles set numerous school records during the 2009 season including 35 victories and winning a home ply-off series. The Eagles also captured their first Foothill Conference crown since 1989.

Sunday MSJC ran into tough pitching as OCC's Calvin Drummond threw a complete game four hitter while striking out 16. Drew Madrigal, the Foothill Conference MVP, had two of the Eagles four hits including a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning. Michael Crain took the loss on the mound for MSJC despite a solid performance in his first start of the season.

The Eagles finished the season at 35-13, while OCC improved to 34-13. OCC and Santa Ana will be the two representatives from Southern California in the State Finals.

"The kids here never let down," said Eagles head coach Steve Alonzo. "They wanted to a better program and that's what we've done."
