13 Eagle Football Players Earn All Conference Recognition

Thirteen MSJC football players earned all American Mountain Conference honors for their play this season when the all league team was announced last week.sherironjonesallconf-17.jpg

Jeremiah Jordan, Dimitri Gallow, Sheriron Jones, and Grant Hatch each were named First Team All-Conference, while nine others were named to the Second Team.  Jordan, a 6'5 sophomore defensive end from Stone Mountain, Georgia was third on the team this season in tackles with 45 and led the Eagles in sacks with 4.5.  Gallow, a sophomore defensive back from Valley View HS, had 31 tackles and four pass break-ups to lead the Eagles secondary.  Jones, a sophomore from Rancho Verde HS, started all 10 games at quarterback this year for MSJC throwing for 2,162 yards.  Jones threw 17 touchdown passes and also ran the ball for 345 yards on the year.  Grant Hatch, a sophomore from Murrieta Valley, anchored the offensive line this year for MSJC starting all 10 games.

dimitrigallowallconf-17.jpgThe Eagles also had six players on the defensive side of the ball named Second Team all league; Aumanu Manu, Quentin Blair, James Reeder, Andrew Berry, Tyler Freeman, and Lanii Jackson-Barrow.  Berry, Reeder and Jackson-Barrow were first, second, and third on the team in tackles this year with 79, 78 and 77 respectively, Berry also had a team best 8 tackles for negative yardage.  Freeman finished the season with 41 tackles, 1 sack, 3 pass break-ups, and 3 forced fumbles helping MSJC to a 5-5 record on the season.  Manu and Blair did a solid job in the middle of MSJC's defensive line as they combined for 90 tackles, 2 sacks, and 7.5 tackles for loss.

On offense Ryan Shorter, Kefa Cort, and Jomari Becnel all earned second team honors.  Becnel was MSJC's leading rusher with 841 yards on the season, he also scored 10 touchdowns.  Cort was the team's top receiver with 55 catches for 644 yards and 5 TDs.  Shorter helped protect the quarterback and open holes for Becnel starting all 10 games on the offensive line.
