Football Teams Drops Game at LA Valley
The MSJC football team dropped their second straight game on Saturday night, falling to LA Valley in Van Nuys 30-14.
The Eagles grabbed a 7-0 lead early in the game when Marvin Hifo recovered a fumbled punt in the end zone on the opening series of the game. The lead would be short lived however, as the Monarchs scored two quick touchdowns midway through the first to take a 14-7 lead. LA Valley would add a safety just before halftime to go into the break with a 16-7 lead.
The Monarchs pushed the lead to 23-7 late in the third quarter on a 1 yard touchdown run by Royce Long. The Eagles scored their lone offensive touchdown of the game when Taylor Syverston hooked up with Michael Harrison for a 11 yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter cutting the lead to 23-14. MSJC could not get any more offense going the rest of the way and LA Valley would add a late touchdown for the 30-14 final.
The loss drops MSJC to 1-2 on the season while the Monarchs improved to 3-0. The Eagles will return home on Saturday September 29th when they host East Los Angeles. Saturday's game will kick off at 1 pm at Carl Quandt Stadium.
