Johnny Williams Headlines MSJC Football Awards

MSJC defensive tackle Johnny Williams was named the American Mountain Conference Defensive Player of the Year after his stand out sophomore season.  Ronald Gaither, Tyler Henderson, Jaron Johnson, and Eddy Williams also earned First Team All Conference honors.10169175_829222623775029_6954920184439482398_n[1].jpg

Johnny Williams (Hemet West Valley) led the Eagles defense this year with 74 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, and 16 tackles for loss, tops on the team in all three categories.  Gaither (Moreno Valley) had a team high 6 interceptions at his safety position and returned two kick offs for touchdowns this season.  On offense, running back Eddy Williams (West Haven, CT) rushed for 1098 yards on the year and scored 14 total touchdowns.  His 109.8 yards per game average on the ground was the fifth best in the state.  Johnson (Moreno Valley Rancho Verde) was MSJC's top receiver on the year as he caught a team high 60 balls for 608 yards.  Tight end Henderson (Vista Murrieta) had 17 catches for 240 yards.

Defensive tackle George Obialo (London, England) and linebacker Darian Porter (Louisville, KY) were both chosen second team all American Mountain.  Porter finished his freshman season 2nd on the team in total tackles with 55 while freshman Obialo was third with 53.


MSJC defensive tackle Johnny Williams earned American Mountain Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors for his outstanding play this year.  Williams had team highs in tackles (74), sacks (7.5), and tackles for loss (16).
