The Eagles came out of the gates quickly as they forced an LA Valley fumble on the first possession of the game setting up a Jaime Lucio 37 yard field goal to jump ahead 3-0.  Late in the first quarter the Eagle defense came up big again scoring a safety that was set up by Wilfred Mondragon's punt that pinned the Monarchs down at the one yard line.  LA Valley rallied to score the next 12 points as both their offense and defense came up with a touchdown.  The Eagles would cut the lead to 12-8 on Lucio's second field goal of the day with 5:03 to go in the half when he hit from 21 yards out.

LA Valley added 10 more points in the final 39 seconds of the first half when they got their second interception for a touchdown of the day and followed it up with an onside kick.  After recovering the kick, the Monarchs were able to  set up a field goal on the final play of the second quarter to take a 22-8 lead into halftime.

MSJC came out of the locker room on fire as they took the opening kick off of the second half and drove it 72 yards on 10 plays ending in a Tim Morovick to Dalton Hunkle touchdown pass of 29 yards.  Just five minutes later Morovick and Hunkle hooked up again this time for 39 yards and the Eagles tied the game at 22 with 7:38 to play in the third.  The third quarter onslaught by the Eagles continued as they pulled ahead on a 26 yard field goal by Lucio and then with just 19 seconds to play in the third Morovick threw his third TD pass of the game this time to Jamion Lindsey for 32 yards.  MSJC outscored the Monarchs 24-0 in the third quarter to take a 32-22 lead into the fourth.

In the fourth the MSJC defense continued to hold and Lucio added his fourth field goal of the day from 43 yards out to push the Eagles lead to 35-22.  Morovick would add the final score of the day with just under two minutes left when he ran the ball in for a score from 10 yards out.

The MSJC defense had an impressive day as they held LA Valley under 300 yards for the game.  Mandela Mosley had 9 tackles and an interception while Michael Carreathers recorded 8 tackles including 2 sacks.  On the offensive side Morovick finished the game 11 of 25 passing for 255 yards and 3 TDs.  Hunkle was his favorite target on the day catching 6 balls for 146 yards.  On the ground Michael Harrison ran for 86 yards on 16 carries while Superiorr Reid added 76 yards on 24 carries.

The win improved the Eagles record to 3-0 on the season while LA Valley dropped to 0-3.  MSJC will start Mountain Conference play on Saturday when they travel to East Los Angeles for a 6 pm game.  East LA will also enter Saturday's contest at 3-0.
