The MSJC men's basketball team won three games over the weekend to take the title of the 2015 Knights Invitational at San Diego City College.
The Eagles opened their season on Friday night with an easy 93-58 win over Reedley. MSJC jumped out to a 47-21 halftime lead. Tre Nottingham led four Eagles in double figure scoring with 18 points. Roosevelt Adams added 15, Carl Brown had 13, and Kendall Brown had 10. Adams added a team high 11 rebounds and Nottingham had 8 assists and 7 steals.
MSJC won their closest game of the weekend on Saturday in the tournament's semi-finals as they held off Citrus 75-68. The Eagles once again had a strong first half and led by a score of 38-24 at the break. Devin Fleming led the Eagles in scoring on Saturday with 17 points. Kendall Brown had 14 points and 7 rebounds while Nottingham scored 11 and dropped off 7 assists.
The Eagles won the championship game Sunday 95-70 over Grossmont College. MSJC led by 19 at the half and by as much as 29 during the second. Once again four Eagles scored in double figures with Adams leading the way with 18. Fleming had 13, Nottingham 12, and Carl Brown had his second double figure game of the weekend with 10. Nottingham once again did a solid job distributing the ball as he picked up 8 more assists.
For their efforts on the weekend Adams was named to the all tournament team and Nottingham was named the tournament's MVP. The Eagles who are now 3-0 on the season will have this week off before they travel to Bakersfield for a three day invitational on November 27-29th. MSJC will host the 2nd Annual Kiwanis Hoops and Crops Tournament December 3-5th.
