Eagle Men's Basketball Wins 1 of 3 at SBVC Tourney

The MSJC men's basketball team continued their brutal early season schedule this weekend winning one of three games at the San Bernardino Valley Tournament.

The Eagles opened the tournament on Friday with a 74-58 loss to West Los Angeles. MSJC had the lead down to 2 points early in the second half, but could not get over the hump as they fell to the Oilers.  Davon Sanders led the Eagles in scoring with 15 points while C.J. Hyder added 11.

MSJC bounced back on Saturday as they jumped out to an early lead and cruised to an easy 87-39 win over Miramar University JV.  Sanders was the game's top scorer with 20 while Terrance Williams and DeAndre Snedecor each had 9 points.  Olabanji Osinaike had 9 boards to lead the team and Hyder added 8 rebounds.

On Sunday the Eagles struggled shooting from the field as they lost to Grossmont 69-59 in the Consolation Championship.  MSJC shot just 23 for 61 from the field and 8 of 29 from three point range.  Sanders led in scoring once again with 19 points while Hyder was next with 18.  Snedecor also reached double figures with 10.

MSJC is now 3-6 on the season and will play their home opener on Thursday November 30th when they host their annual Kiwanis Hoops and Crops Tournament.  The Eagles will open up on the 30th at 7 pm against Santiago Canyon.  The tournament will run Thursday the 30th through Saturday December 2nd.
