Eagle Men Beat Miramar Stay in First Place
The MSJC men's basketball team used a late first half run on Wednesday night to pull away from Miramar on their way to a 80-66 win in a key PCAC North Division game.
The Eagles pushed a four point lead into a 17 point lead in the final 7 minutes of the first half. PeeWee Gardner came off the bench to score all 14 of his points during that run and MSJC led at the break 42-25. Miramar got as close as 7 during the second half, but the Eagles answered the run each time.
Samuel Williams finished the night with a game high 24 points and Tre Hunter added 11. Blake O'Donnell added 8 points and 11 rebounds while Isaiah Jones had 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
The win kept MSJC in a first place tie with Palomar with one game remaining in the regular season. The Eagles who improved to 21-7 overall and 5-2 in the PCAC North will host Grossmont on Friday night at 7 pm. The Eagles can clinch their second straight conference title with a win Friday night.
