Eagle Men Move to 5th in State Poll, Set For Bakersfield Classic

The MSJC men's basketball team, who opened their season by winning the championship at the San Diego City Knights Invitational, have moved up to number five in the latest State rankings.roseforbakepreview.jpg

The 3-0 Eagles will be back in action Friday through Sunday when they take part in the Bakersfield Thanksgiving Classic.  MSJC will take on Fullerton, Barstow, and Porterville in the event starting with a 5 pm tip against Fullerton on Friday.  The Eagles have started the season quickly as they averaged 87.7 points per game in their three wins in San Diego, defeating Reedley, Citrus, and Grossmont. 

It has been a balanced attack for MSJC with four players averaging double figures in scoring.  Roosevelt Adams and Tre Nottingham are both scoring 13.7 points per game thus far, while Devin Fleming averages 12.7 a contest and Kendall Brown checks in at 11 points per night.  Adams is also the team's top rebounder through three games pulling in 7 a game.  As a team the Eagles have out rebounded their opponents thus far by 6 a contest.

MSJC, who is ranked #3 in the So. Cal Region, to go along with their #5 state ranking will play their first home games of the year when they host the 2nd Annual Kiwanis Hoops and Crops Tournament December 3-5th.  The Eagles will open that tournament on the 3rd at 7 pm when they play Lassen College.


Roosevelt Adams is one of four Eagles who are averaging double figures in scoring so far this year for the 3-0 MSJC men's basketball team.

The Eagles are ranked #3 in the So. Cal Region and #5 in the state in the CCCAA's latest poll.
