Eagle Men Open 2016 Play-offs Tonight at Home

The MSJC men's basketball team will open their 2016 post-season tonight with a second round home game against the Cypress Chargers.  Tonight's game tips-off at 7 pm.CarlBrown-Cypresspreview.jpg

The Eagles enter tonight's contest as the #5 seed in the Southern California Region and are coming off their third straight Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division title.  MSJC finished the regular season with a 25-5 overall record, they won 15 of their final 17 games.  Eagle guard Tre Nottingham, a freshman from Rancho Verde HS, comes into the post season as the Eagles leading scorer, averaging 16.4 points per game.  He was named the PCAC North Player of the Year.  Teammate Roosevelt Adams, a sophomore first team all conference selection from Hemet West Valley HS, will begin play-off action as the team's leading rebounder at 8.2 boards per game and he also scores 13 points a game.  Devin Fleming also a first team all conference selection is the Eagles third leading scorer at 12.2 points per game.  Fleming is a freshman guard from Valley View HS.

The Cypress Chargers arrive at the Eagles' Nest with an overall record of 22-6 they are the #12 seed in the Region.  Cypress tied for second place with Fullerton in the Orange Empire Conference behind the Region's #1 seed, Saddleback.  The Chargers are led in scoring and rebounding by First Team All OEC selection Jordan Fleck.  Fleck checks into Friday night's game at 15.2 points and 7 rebounds per game.  Fellow 1st Team All OEC pick Jeremy Wright averages 12.3 points per game for Cypress and a pair of 2nd team all league selections Nolan Kelly and Austin Payne also average double figures at 12 and 11.1 each.

The winner of tonight's game will advance to the Southern California Regional Semi-Finals and will take on the winner of Saturday night's game between #13 Cerritos and #4 East Los Angeles.  This weekend's winners will play on Wednesday March 2nd at the highest remaining seeds home gym.

Ticket prices for tonight's game were set by the California Community College Athletic Association and are; $12 general admission and $8 for faculty, students, staff, senior citizens, and children under 12.
