Eagle Men Pick Up Key Road Win at Palomar

The MSJC men's basketball team picked up a key victory on Wednesday night as they went on the road to San Marcos and knocked off Palomar 77-69 to take sole possession of third place in theCJHyderforpalomar2-18.jpg
PCAC North standings.

The Eagles trailed by three at the half 39-36, but fought hard in a back and forth second half to earn the win.  In a game that featured 6 ties and 6 lead changes Davon Sanders put MSJC up for good when he connected on a three point shot off an assist from David Thompson with 4:05 to play in the game giving the Eagles a 65-62 advantage.  MSJC held on down the stretch as C.J. Hyder scored five points in the final minute of the game with a three pointer and a dunk to seal it.

Sanders led all scorers in the game with 21 points he also grabbed 7 rebounds.  Hyder finished his night with 14 points and a pair of steals while A.J. Walton also reached double figures in scoring with 10 points.  Olabanji Osinaike pulled down a game high 10 rebounds for MSJC.  The Comets were led in scoring by Jackson Strong who ended the night with 20 points.

The win improved the Eagles to 12-14 overall on the season and 4-3 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division play while Palomar fell to 13-13 and 3-4.  MSJC is currently one game behind second place Miramar. 

The Eagles return to action on Saturday when they host MiraCosta in a 3 pm game.
