Eagle Men Route Rio Hondo

The MSJC men's basketball team opened up a big halftime lead and cruised to an easy 106-74 taylorvsrio.jpgvictory Wednesday night against visiting Rio Hondo College.

The Eagles had 6 players reach double figures in scoring and shot 43 for 91 from the floor on the night.  Dakota Downs had a game high 23 points to go along with 11 rebounds while Bucky Chenault added 20 points and 7 assists.  Jaree Crawford also had a double double with 16 points and 13 rebounds despite playing just 17 minutes due to foul trouble.  Eric Lawton (13), Kris Brooks (12), and Taylor Bell (10) also hit double figures for the Eagles.

The win improved MSJC's record to 18-7 on the season and 7-4 in Foothill Conference play.  Rio Hondo fell to 4-19 overall and 1-10 in the conference.  The Eagles are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Rancho Cucamonga to take on Chaffey College.  Chaffey is currently tied for first in the conference two games ahead of the Eagles.  Tip off is set for 3 pm and you can hear all of the action on the Eagle Radio Network at msjc.edu or locally on AM 1620.
