The MSJC men's basketball team scored 64 points in the second half on Saturday as they picked up a non conference road win at Santa Monica 111-97.
The Eagles came out of the gates strong building a lead of as many as 14 in the first half, before a late push by the Corsairs trimmed the lead to 47-41 at the break. MSJC slowly pushed the lead back out in the second half on their way to the victory.
The Eagles used a balanced scoring attack with five different players reaching double figures on the afternoon led by Samuel Williams with 27. Tre Hunter added 19 while Peewee Gardner came off the bench to score 13. Austin Klug had 11 and Roosevelt Adams also chipped in with 10. Adams had a double double as he also grabbed 10 rebounds. Isaiah Jones and Blake O'Donnell each just missed double figure scoring 8 a piece.
The win pushed MSJC's record to 5-3 on the year. The Eagles will host the Hemet Valley Kiwanis Hoops and Crops Tournament this weekend at the Eagles Nest. The tournament kicks off on Thursday at 1 pm with Yuba taking on Palomar. The Eagles first game of the tournament will be against College of the Canyons on Thursday at 7 pm. Games will continue on Friday at 1,3,5, and 7 with the tournament wrapping up on Saturday with games at 3,5, and 7.
Samuel Williams had 27 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists on Saturday to help the MSJC men's basketball team to a 111-97 win at Santa Monica. The Eagles will be back in action this week when they host the Hemet Valley Kiwanis Hoops and Crops Tournament Thursday through Saturday.
