Eagles Beat Palomar, Earn PCAC North Title
The MSJC men's basketball team defeated visiting Palomar College on Friday night 80-70 to claim their third straight Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division title with a week remaining
in the regular season.
The Eagles closed the first half strong to build a 19 point halftime lead 44-25 on the strength of nine three point baskets. MSJC then held off a couple mild runs from the Comets to secure the victory in the second half. The win clinched the Eagles third straight PCAC North title and eliminated Palomar from contention. MSJC heads into the final week of the regular season with two games remaining and a three game lead in the conference race.
Friday it was Roosevelt Adams who led the charge with 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Eagles. Tre Nottingham and Devin Fleming each added 18 points and Carl Brown came off the bench to make four three pointers on his way to 12 points in the contest.
Along with clinching the league title MSJC improved to 24-4 with the win on the season and 6-0 in conference play. Palomar fell to 16-10 and 4-3. The Eagles will travel to Mira Costa on Wednesday, before wrapping up the regular season on Friday with a home game against Miramar. Friday's "Sophomore Night" game will tip-off at 7 pm.
