Eagles Even Their Conference Record With Win

The MSJC men's basketball team built a 10 point halftime lead and then held on down the stretch to pick up a PCAC North road win Wednesday 81-74 at Palomar.jaryntaylorforpalomar1-17.jpg

The Eagles used a balanced offensive attack and connected on 10 three point field goals to win the game.  MSJC built a halftime lead of 40-30 led by Carl Brown's 13 first half points.  The Comets however made a strong comeback in the second half to force the game tied in the final two minutes, before Brown hit a crucial three pointer off a pass from Tre Nottingham to reclaim the lead for the Eagles.  MSJC held off Palomar down the stretch for the victory.

Brown finished the day with 16 points and 6 assists, while Nottingham was MSJC's top scorer on the night with 21.  Nottingham also dished out a game high 8 assists in the victory.  Jaryn Taylor had a double double for the Eagles with 17 points and 10 rebounds while sharp shooter Mat Bradshaw came off the bench to drain 6 threes on his way to 18 points.

The win evened the Eagles conference record in the PCAC North at 1-1, they improved to 15-9 overall.  MSJC will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they host Mira Costa at 3 pm.  Saturday's game is the second of a doubleheader with the MSJC women's team who also plays Mira Costa at 1 pm.
