Eagles Fall in Close One at Home
The MSJC men's basketball team suffered an 80-75 loss Wednesday night at the hands of visiting Mira Costa College in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division game.
The Eagles and the Spartans exchanged leads throughout the first half with Mira Costa eventually leading at the halftime break 33-32. The second half was more of the same as both teams led by as much as six in the first 10 minutes of the second. The game tightened down the stretch until a pair of 3 point baskets by the Spartans Buddah Boyd put Mira Costa up for good with just over a minute to play.
Samuel Williams led three Eagle players in double figures on the night with 15 points, he also pulled down a game high 10 rebounds. Tre Hunter came off the bench to add 13 points and 4 assists while Isaiah Jones chipped in with 12 points.
The loss drops MSJC to 12-6 overall on the season and 0-2 in PCAC North play while Mira Costa improved to 11-6 and 3-0. The Eagles will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Mirimar College for a 7 pm contest.
